San Francisco

For a little change of pace I did this piece in watercolor and ink. The basis for the painting was a photo on the Different Strokes blog of a pink Victorian house. I decided to add some background and identify it as a San Francisco locale by including the Golden Gate bridge. The painting measures 8x10, on 140# paper.

It's so interesting when an addition like the bridge can change to feel of a picture and make it more interesting. good job.

Kathleen, this is wonderful - what do they call these houses? the painty ladies or something like that? Just beautiful!

Dominique - thank you!

Nancy - you're right... they do call them that. I googled it and also came up with some interesting photos of ladies with tattoos ;-)

I recently joined DSFDP and when presented with this challenge I thought of including the Golden Gate but was unable to come up with an idea. Your version captured what I hoped to achieve. Karin's blog is helping me learn to use the photo as a reference...just like you did. I just finished mine today and will post tomorrow but I wanted you to know you did a great job. I am learning so much viewing everyone's paintings. Thanks. Honor Martinez
