Pansies

In Ohio we start to believe tht winter is really over when the pansies are ready to plant. They will weather the very cool evenings and give us the first excuse to go play in the dirt.
I painted this 5x7 watercolor on 140 pound paper just to capture the little 'faces' on each bloom.

May 5 Daybreak

This is an acrylic 8 x 10 that I painted for an upcoming show. The intention was to paint a misty morning with the first bit of sun in the sky.

I'm pleased with the result - hope I'm not suffering from what, in his most recent newsletter, Robert Genn calls "Kalopsia", that is the condition in which things appear more beautiful than they really are. We'll see what the jury thinks.

In the meantime I have two pieces accepted in a show at the Trumbell Art Gallery in conjunction with the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center.
