Negative space

I was working at the Hudson Society of Artists mid winter members show and was wowed by Kitty Waybright's entry. She generously explained her technique for her fabulous paintings. Kitty pours liquid acrylic paint and swirls t being careful to not let the colors get muddy. When its dry she 'finds' the patterns that there and paints the negative space a solid color. When the show opens I will try to get a photo of her work.
There were many fantastic entries into the show which opens Saturday night.
Of course I had to come home and try an aceo a la Kitty. The reds and yellows are paint that was poured and swirled. I decided that birds were there and painted the blues so there would show up.

I really need to learn to do negative space. Then again, I need to learn lots of things. LOL I love these birds, Kathleen. They are just fun!

Its sort of like thinking in reverse! It can be a challenge but its rewarding too.

Love it, Kathleen! I'm glad to see your version of Kitty's technique.
